Puppet Making

Paper-cuts from passing checks of kings
leave lacerations that they stitch
with marionette strings
they'll pull you to your feet;
now dance for the world that strung you up
by your soul

hungry gluttons feast upon your heart
eating everything inside you
Dreams and questions chewed apart
hollowing you from behind
to fit a hand inside a husk and
move your mouth

and the endless shows to have a stage
leave you to tired to object
and how can you express the rage
you're empty, wounded, pushed, pulled,
not behind the curtain, you are just
a puppet.
